Why Do You Need a 4x4?

Having the backing of four-wheel drive means having that added peace of mind that when things get tough, your vehicle won’t let you down. Here at Nunns of Grimsby, we know the importance of having a rugged vehicle to rely on, which is why we’re here to lend a hand if you need any more information about your next four-wheel-drive.

But if you’re considering purchasing a four-wheel-drive and considering an Isuzu as your next choice, what else do you need to know? In this article, we’re going to be exploring everything four-wheel-drive.

Extra traction

One of the key features of four-wheel drive is added traction. Couple a 4x4 system like the one you’ll find in the Isuzu D-Max with off-road tyres and you’ve got a package which is pretty unstoppable over all types of surfaces. However, it is vitally important when you’re looking to get through mud, gravel or sand, where this additional traction can help.

Remember, too, that the D-Max is available with both manual and automatic gearbox engines, with both providing smooth running depending on the job you’ve got planned.

Go-anywhere ability

One thing you expect from a 4x4 setup is the ability to go here, there and everywhere - which is just what you’ll get from the new Isuzu D-Max. It’s got a shift-on-the-fly four-wheel-drive system, too, which means that you can switch from two to four-wheel-drive without the need to stop and engage neutral. For when you’re in a pinch, this can make things much easier.

With the D-Max, you’re also getting a handy differential locking feature and 800mm of wading depth to ensure that you’re always getting where you need to be.

More assured towing

If you’re looking to tow, then the D-Max is a fine option. With four-wheel drive, you’ve got the extra support of additional traction when towing, while extra features such as anti-lock brakes ensure that you can slow everything down just when you need to.

All versions of the D-Max get a braked trailer 3.5-tonne towing capacity or 750kg of unbraked trailer.

Better cold-weather capability

If you’re in a part of the UK that is prone to very cold weather, then a four-wheel-drive like the D-Max can pay dividends. When equipped with dedicated winter tyres, the D-Max can provide excellent traction through snow and ice, ensuring that you’ve got a way forward no matter the conditions.

Standard dual-zone climate control will help you get the D-Max’s cabin to a cosy temperature despite the chilly weather outside, too.

Carrying more goods

With a practical pick-up truck like the D-Max, you’re ready to get lifting. With a 1,520mm long load bed, the D-Max is up for the challenge no matter what you’re looking to carry, and you’ve got up to 1,105kg of payload to work with, too.

There are several accessories to help out with load carrying, too, such as a dedicated cover for the rear bed. Remember, too, that four-wheel drive can help to keep things stable when you’ve got the rear of the truck loaded up.

The D-Max is one of the most capable pick-up trucks around, and four-wheel-drive versatility lies at its heart. Here at Nunns of Grimsby, we’re experts in all things Isuzu, so if you’d like to find out more about this award-winning truck or take a test drive, get in touch today to see how we can help.
