What’s Changed: The Specifics
So, what sets the 2026 iteration apart from its predecessor? On the exterior, you’ll immediately notice visibly longer rear doors and wider C-pillars, which provide access to a significantly roomier rear seat. The front end is sharper, featuring new-look LED headlights complemented by double-hockey-stick LED running lights and a front bumper with a full-width intake.
At the rear, following a modern industry trend, Mazda has replaced the traditional logo badge with bold MAZDA lettering. While the commanding profile takes inspiration from the CX-60, the refined tail-light design borrows from Mazda’s larger SUVs (the CX-70, CX-80, and CX-90). The CX-5 still retains its own unique character, distinguished by a black lower bumper, visible tailpipes, and an elegant bell-shape silhouette.
The interior is where we are seeing some of the most exciting changes. The cabin has evolved from simple and unfussy to a highly upscale and modern environment. Say goodbye to the half-digital driver cluster; it has been entirely replaced by a sleek, fully digital driver display. Taking centre stage is a massive upgrade to the infotainment system, now a 15.6-inch screen, Mazda’s largest to date. It is the first Mazda to feature Google Built-in, offering essential apps and seamless connectivity for greater ease of use.
Available Trims
The all-new Mazda CX-5 will be available in a range of trims to suit different drivers and budgets, but the standout model is expected to be the top-spec Homura variant. Designed for drivers wanting the full premium SUV experience, the flagship CX-5 combines refined styling, advanced technology, and Mazda’s most luxurious feature package yet.
Expected highlights include a larger 16.6inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a premium Bose audio system, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, wireless phone charging, and a panoramic sunroof. Buyers can also expect premium leather-appointed upholstery, a fully digital driver display, adaptive LED headlights, and a 360-degree camera system.
Mazda’s latest i-Activsense safety technology is also expected to feature heavily on the top trim, including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and driver attention monitoring.
Other trims in the CX-5 lineup including the Prime Line and the Exclusive Line, will still offer the sharp styling, practicality, and driving dynamics the SUV is known for, while providing more accessible options for buyers who may not need every premium feature.
