Mazda’s New 6E & The Subaru Uncharted EV - Here’s What You Need to Know
Mazda and Subaru have announced two new vehicles due in 2026. The striking Mazda 6E and the Subaru Uncharted EV. These are electric cars which will arrive with a boatload of technology, a clever new electrical architecture and plenty of standard equipment.
Here at Nunns of Grimsby, we’re proud to stock some of the latest Mazda and Subaru vehicles, and we’ve got all the latest details that you need to know about these exciting new cars.
Mazda 6E: Available with Two Battery Pack Options
Mazda looks set to offer the 6E with a choice of two battery packs. The first is a 68.8kWh unit and the second is a ‘Long Range’ 80kWh, with the latter expected to be the most popular here in the UK. Why? Well, Mazda claims it’ll deliver an impressive 345 miles between trips to the plug, while a top-whack charge speed of 95kW means a 10 to 80 per cent charge could be conducted in 45 minutes.
The smaller-battery version will still deliver a respectable 300 miles per charge, while a quicker charge rate of 200kW means a 10 to 80 per cent charge will take just 22 minutes.
It uses Mazda’s ‘Kodo Soul of Motion’ design
Mazda has always had great design at the core of its cars, and the new 6E is no different. It uses the brand’s ‘Kodo Soul of Motion’ design language, which helps to introduce more movement to the car’s look even when it’s standing still.
It’s got slim front headlights which ‘flow’ into the grille, while Mazda’s has drawn inspiration from its RX-7 sports car from the 1990s for the 6E’s quad rear circular lights.
There’s plenty of new technology on board
There’s a whole load of technology to explore inside the 6E. You’ve got a huge 14.6-inch central infotainment system, which is joined by a second 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster placed in front of the driver. Together, you’re getting a huge amount of screen space, and this means you can always have all of your key information right where you need it.
All cars will get a panoramic sunroof as standard, too, alongside heated and ventilated front seats, and 19-inch wheels.
Lots of storage space
The Mazda 6E is aiming to deliver a high level of practicality, too. In fact, there’s a helpful 466 litres of boot space to play with, and you can expand this to 1,074 litres by lowering the rear seats. As a result, the 6E can quickly be transformed into a very practical EV.
Plus, there’s a handy 72-litre ‘frunk’ under the bonnet which also gets a drain plug fitted. It means that you can store wet items - such as muddy boots or damp beach towels - and simply remove the plug to allow the area to drain away.
The Subaru Uncharted EV
As a key Subaru dealer, we here at Nunns of Grimsby are excited to see the arrival of the Subaru Uncharted, too. It’ll arrive as the brand’s first electric SUV but, in typical Subaru fashion, has lots of go-anywhere features such as 210mm of ground clearance and rugged plastic wheelarch extensions.
Dual Motor Technology
Plus, with a dual-motor setup and a 77kWh battery, the Uncharted comes with a claimed range of up to 292 miles and a 0-60mph time of just 4.8 seconds. It’s definitely one to watch. However, there is also a single-motor version which gets an impressive range of up to 363 miles from the same 77kWh battery. It’s expected that a smaller-battery version - with a 57.7kWh battery pack - and a 276-mile range will also be offered. Range-topping versions of the Uncharted also feature Subaru’s X-Mode off-road system and Grip Control technology to help when taking this EV a little further away from the beaten track.
The Interior
Inside, the Uncharted gets a handy dual smartphone charging pad to keep those devices topped up, while a 14-inch infotainment system is home to all key media functions as well as smartphone mirroring systems. You also get a seven-inch driver display for all key information. Something that Subaru has equipped the Uncharted with is a variety of physical controls to help adjust settings on the move more easily.
Expected to arrive in the UK next spring, the Uncharted is similar in size to the Toyota C-HR+, putting it a the more compact end of the SUV spectrum. Against Subaru’s Crosstrek, it’s 35mm longer and 70mm wider, giving it a little more presence on the road.
The Mazda 6E and Subaru Uncharted EV are a great showcase of where these exciting brands are heading, but if you can’t wait for their arrival, check out some of the other great vehicles that we’ve got on offer here at Nunns of Grimsby.
