Mitsubishi Returning to the UK in 2026 – What Drivers Need to Know
After several years away from the UK new-car market, Mitsubishi is set to return in 2026, bringing exciting new models and advanced technology back to British drivers. And here at Nunns we’re delighted to reveal we will once again be selling the new vehicles, one of the small number of dealers across the UK.
The Japanese manufacturer paused sales of new vehicles in the UK in 2021, but strong customer demand and continued brand loyalty have encouraged the company to make a comeback. Nunns association with Mitsubishi began in 1980, making us one of the countries’ longest service dealers. The vehicles will return to our showroom from May 2026 with the reintroduction of the L200 pickup truck and Outlander Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV).
For many motorists, Mitsubishi has long been associated with durability, off-road capability and innovative hybrid, technology, so the return of the brand is expected to generate significant interest across the automotive market.
At Nunns of Grimsby, we’re excited to see the brand making its comeback and what it could mean for drivers in the region.
Which Mitsubishi Models Are Returning?
Mitsubishi is getting ready to return to the UK new car market with two important models arriving in 2026, the all-new Mitsubishi L200 Series 7 pickup and the Outlander PHEV plug-in hybrid SUV.
Both vehicles show what the brand does best: tough, reliable engineering and practical technology, whether you need a hardworking pickup or a family-friendly SUV.
All-New L200 Pick-Up
The new Mitsubishi L200 Series 7 continues the model’s long-standing reputation as a tough and dependable pickup. This latest version brings a more modern look, along with a much-improved interior that feels more refined and better equipped than before.
It’s still very much designed for hard work, but now with added comfort and technology to make daily driving easier.
Specifications
Under the bonnet, the L200 comes with a 2.4-litre bi-turbo diesel engine and a 6-speed automatic gearbox as standard. It also features Mitsubishi’s well-known four-wheel drive systems, giving drivers confidence whether they’re on the road or off it.
In terms of what it can do, the L200 remains highly capable:
- It can tow up to 3.5 tonnes
- It offers over 1,000kg of payload capacity
- It comes with a 5-year warranty and 5 years roadside assistance
There’s also a commercial version, which swaps the rear seats for a secure load area. This makes it especially useful for tradespeople and business users, while also offering some tax advantages.
Pricing
The Mitsubishi L200 Series 7 starts from £36,295 (excluding VAT) for the standard double-cab pickup. The commercial version starts slightly higher at £37,495 (excluding VAT).
Buyers can choose between two trims: Titan and Barbarian, depending on whether they want something more straightforward or a higher-spec model with extra features.
All-New Outlander PHEV
Mitsubishi is also bringing back one of its most well-known models, the Outlander PHEV. This new version builds on the success of the previous model, which was very popular in the UK, and adds better performance, improved comfort and more everyday usability
It’s designed to offer a good balance between electric driving and long-distance capability, making it a strong option for families.
Specifications
The Outlander PHEV uses a 2.4-litre petrol engine combined with two electric motors and a large battery. Together, this setup produces over 300 bhp and offers a smooth, quiet driving experience.
It also comes with Mitsubishi’s four-wheel drive system, helping it stays stable and secure in different conditions.
Some of the key highlights include:
- A combined driving range of over 500 miles
- Super All-Wheel Control system for added grip
- Multiple driving modes to suit different conditions
- A seven-seat option available for the first time in the UK
Pricing
The all-new Outlander PHEV is priced from £46,995 (on-the-road), placing it firmly in the competitive plug-in hybrid SUV market.
It will be offered in two main versions:
- Nativa – a practical seven-seat model
- Diamond – a higher-spec five-seat version with more premium features
Mitsubishi’s Legacy in the UK
Mitsubishi has built a strong reputation over decades in the UK market. Many drivers will remember iconic models such as:
- Mitsubishi Shogun - a legendary off-road SUV
- Mitsubishi Evolution - a performance icon with rally heritage
- Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV - one of the first plug-in hybrid SUV's
These vehicles helped establish Mitsubishi as a brand known for engineering reliability, advanced four-wheel drive systems and innovation.
What This Means for UK Drivers
Mitsubishi’s return could bring more choice for buyers in key segments such as hybrid SUVs and practical pick-ups. With the automotive industry moving rapidly toward electrification, Mitsubishi’s experience with plug-in hybrid systems may help the brand reconnect with UK customers looking for efficient and capable vehicles.
The relaunch will also see new dealerships and retailers appointed across the country, supported by an existing aftersales network of more than 100 sites.
Looking Ahead to Mitsubishi’s Return
